Looking for an Apollo alternative
What Riftjaw does differently, in plain terms, so you can judge it yourself.

Why people look beyond Apollo
According to their public website at the time of writing, Apollo combines a large B2B contact database with email sequences and sales tools. For many teams that is exactly what they want.
Other people end up on this page for a different reason. Their buyers are a bakery, a roofing company or a family run wholesaler, with a website and a phone number but no named sales director in any database. Or they already have lists from a trade fair, a directory or a scraper export, and they want one place to keep them, clean them and mail them, without a meter running per contact revealed or exported.
Do you have lists in five spreadsheets and nobody knows who was called? Do you want your lead data on a server that belongs to your account? Then it is worth comparing. Typical reasons we hear:
- My market is small local companies
- I already have my own lists
- I want to own the data, not rent it
- I want a flat price I can plan
- I only need email, not a full sales suite

When Riftjaw fits better

Your market is local
You collect roofers, shops or offices from directories and maps listings yourself. Every CSV or Excel file you bring in is listed with its lead file, and duplicates are flagged before anything is saved.

You want a price that does not move
No credits for importing, deriving an email or exporting. Add a thousand records or fifty thousand, and the plan stays the same.

You want the data to stay yours
Every account runs on its own private server with its own database and the fields you define. On the day you leave, everything goes out as CSV.

You need people you do not know yet
If you want to search for contacts by job title, company size or industry and get names you never had, a contact database like Apollo does that. Riftjaw does not sell data.
You run long sequences
Automatic follow-ups over several steps and days are a core part of Apollo. A Riftjaw campaign has a first mail and up to 5 follow-ups by email, and it does not read your inbox: you set Replied yourself to stop the follow-ups for a contact.
Your buyers are larger companies
Mid size and enterprise targets with clear job titles are where large B2B databases tend to have the most coverage.
Moving your contacts from Apollo
You can keep Apollo running while you try this. Nothing has to be switched off on day one.
Export from Apollo, match the columns
Export the contacts you have the right to use as CSV, following the export options on your Apollo plan, and start a new import. Pick the segment they go into, or create one on the spot, like Apollo export September. Then map first name, company, email, website and phone. Columns Riftjaw does not know yet become new fields.
How import works
Check and publish
Duplicates are flagged against what you already have. Records start as concepts until you publish them, one by one or in bulk, and each one keeps its lead file and source.

See who was called and who replied
Every contact has a pipeline status from New to Contacted, Replied and Customer, plus your own tags like Warm lead. The whole team sees where each company stands.
Contact records
Send the first campaign
Pick the segment, write the mail once with placeholders like {company} and add up to 5 follow-ups. It goes out from your own domain over your own SMTP.
How campaigns work
Questions people ask
No. Riftjaw is where you keep and work lists you collect yourself. If you need to find new named contacts by job title, you need a data vendor for that part.
Yes. Some people find contacts in one tool and keep, segment and mail them in Riftjaw. Export from Apollo, import the file and carry on.
No. Addresses derived from a domain, like info@ or hello@, are guesses based on common patterns. An email column in your file always wins over a derived address.
Yes. A campaign to a segment can have up to 5 follow-ups after the first mail, each sent the number of days later that you choose, to everyone, only to those who did not open or only to those who did not click. Riftjaw does not read replies, so set a contact to Replied and it gets no further follow-ups. More on campaigns.
Yes. The free plan has one list and small campaigns, and you do not need a credit card to start.
