A CSV file is the honest route

Many sales teams build and clean their lead list in one place and run their deals in HubSpot or Salesforce. Moving the list across is a common job, and it goes wrong in the same ways: wrong columns, duplicates and lost history.

Riftjaw has no native HubSpot or Salesforce connection, and this page does not pretend it does. The route is a plain file: export a CSV of a lead file or a segment, and import that file with the import tool of your CRM. Both HubSpot and Salesforce can import CSV files.

For sales teams: own your pipeline data, see who was contacted when, and feed any sender you already use from a clean file. The CSV carries all fields of the lead file plus status, tags, source and date, so the file makes sense on its own.

From your lead list to HubSpot or Salesforce

The names of properties and fields differ per CRM and per account. Check the import screen of your own HubSpot or Salesforce setup when you map the columns.

What to get right before you import leads into a CRM

Move a segment, not everything

Only the companies your sales team will work on need to be in the CRM. A segment keeps the import small and relevant.

Keep status and source

Who was contacted when, and where a company came from, is the history your team needs. Put it in a column so it survives the import.

Agree on a unique field

The website or the email address works well to match records, so the same company does not appear twice in the CRM.

Keep your own copy

The list stays in your own database after the export. If you ever change CRM, you still have the companies and their history.

A short checklist for a CRM import

  • Export one segment and test the import with a few rows first.
  • Use one row per company or per contact, not both mixed.
  • Rename columns to match the properties in your CRM.
  • Keep the status and source columns in the file.
  • Store the exported CSV with the date in the file name.

Frequently asked questions

How do I import leads into HubSpot from a CSV?

Export the leads as a CSV with one row per company or contact, make sure each column has a matching property, and use the import tool in HubSpot to upload the file and map the columns.

Can I import my own lead list into Salesforce?

Yes. Salesforce can import CSV files. Export your lead list or a segment as CSV, clean the columns, and map them to the fields in your Salesforce setup during the import.

Does Riftjaw connect directly to HubSpot or Salesforce?

No. Riftjaw has no native connection to HubSpot or Salesforce. You export a CSV of a lead file or segment, with status, tags, source and date, and import that file into your CRM.

How do I avoid duplicate leads when importing into a CRM?

Clean duplicates before you export and let the CRM match on a unique field, such as the website or email address, so existing records are updated instead of created twice.

Do I need credits?

No. There are no credits and no data tax: enrichment runs automatically without a per-row meter.

What is Riftjaw?
