Local B2B sales

Work a B2B sales territory by region and know what you covered

A territory is a finite set of companies. Split it into regions, give each one an owner and see on the records which part you have reached.

Your market is a finite list

A B2B sales territory is the set of companies one person or team is responsible for, usually drawn by region. For a small team the hard part is not drawing it. It is knowing, three months later, which towns you worked properly and which you only touched.

Your market is a finite list. Treat it like one. If every company in the territory is a record with a region and a status, coverage stops being a feeling. You can count how many companies in a region are still New and how many have been contacted.

Riftjaw has no map and does not draw territories for you. You keep the region in a field of your own, save a filter per region and let the four statuses New, Contacted, Replied and Customer show how far you got. You decide where to go next; Riftjaw keeps the records in order.

Keeping a territory in order

One field for the region

Use the same region names on every record. A filter on that field is your territory view.

An owner per region

Note who works each region in a field or tag, so two colleagues never start on the same town.

Duplicates flagged

Regions overlap at the edges. Duplicate companies are flagged when you import, so one company has one record.

Sector inside region

Within a region, work one sector at a time. Wholesalers do this already; see for wholesale suppliers.

Start a territory this week

  • Write down the regions and give each an owner.
  • Import the companies with a region field filled in.
  • Save one filter per region.
  • Count the records on New per region every Monday.
  • Call a region covered only when New is empty.

Frequently asked questions

What is a B2B sales territory?

The set of companies a salesperson or team is responsible for, usually defined by region and sometimes by sector or company size.

How do I know which part of my territory I have covered?

Keep the region and the status on every record. A saved filter per region shows how many companies are still New and how many have been contacted.

Does Riftjaw draw territories on a map?

No. Riftjaw has no map and no location search. You keep the region in a field and filter on it; the companies come from the sources you choose.

Should I split a territory by region or by sector?

For local B2B sales, region first and sector inside each region usually works best, because you can mention the place and plan visits. A rule of thumb, not a law; see building a list sector by sector.

Do I need credits?

No. There are no credits and no cost per record: a flat price per plan, and the size of your list does not change the price.

What is Riftjaw?

Riftjaw is a B2B lead database you own: import the companies you collect, keep every record with its source, sort them into segments and reach them by email in small batches. Each account runs on its own private server with its own database.
