Lead enrichment what your list needs first
A bare list of company names is not ready to email. These are the fields to fill in first, and how to fill them without a credit meter.
- No credits, no data tax
- You own your data
- Map included
- GDPR-first
Enrichment is getting the list ready, not buying data
Lead enrichment means adding the details you need to each company on your list before you reach out. Not every field you could add, only the ones that decide whether you write, what you write and where it goes.
Most of those details are already public: on the company website, in a map listing or in a directory. Enriching a list is mostly a matter of collecting them in one consistent format.
In Riftjaw, enrichment is part of the pipeline and costs no credits: import your list, fill the fields and derive a likely address from the domain where the site does not show one.
The fields to fill in before you email a list
If a row has no website and no usable address after enrichment, leave it out of the send.
| Field | Why you need it | Where it usually comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Company name | To address the company correctly | The listing or the website |
| Website domain | To dedupe the list and find an address | The listing or a quick search |
| City or region | To segment by area and mention it in the message | Map listing or address |
| Category or niche | To write a message that fits their trade | Listing category or website |
| Business email address | To actually send the message | Contact page or derived from the domain |
| Own tags and notes | To segment and remember context | You, based on your profile |
Common enrichment mistakes
Filling every field
Twenty half-empty columns help nobody. Fill the fields your message and segments actually use.
Enriching before cleaning
Dedupe on the website domain first; otherwise you enrich the same company twice and may write to it twice.
Skipping verification
A derived or old address can bounce. Check addresses before the first send to protect your sender domain.
No source or date
Without a note on where and when a row was enriched, you cannot tell later which data is getting old.
Enrich a list in this order
- Clean and dedupe on domain before adding anything.
- Fill name, domain, city and category for every row.
- Add the business email address last, and verify it.
- Turn your profile answers into tags so you can segment straight away.
- Read ten enriched rows by hand before the first send.
Frequently asked questions
What is lead enrichment?
Lead enrichment is adding missing details to the companies on your list, such as website, location, category and a business email address, so the list is ready for segmenting and outreach.
Which fields do I really need before emailing?
At minimum a company name, website domain, city or region, category and a business email address. Your own tags for segments make the message more relevant.
Can I enrich leads without paying per record?
Yes. Most of the details are public on websites and listings. Riftjaw enriches the list inside your own dashboard without credits, so the size of the list does not change the cost of enrichment.
Is enriching business contact data allowed under GDPR?
Business data from public sources can often be used for relevant B2B outreach, provided you have a legitimate interest and make opting out easy. Read our guide on GDPR and cold email; it is not legal advice.
Do I need credits?
No. There are no credits and no data tax: enrichment runs automatically without a per-row meter.
What is Riftjaw?
